Touchwood are proud to offer a second to none service for restoring
antiques and other furniture to original condition. This could
include stripping off old and worn finishes, repairing the item where
necessary and then refinishing using traditional materials and techniques.
When working with an antique piece of furniture, the first
consideration is whether or not any of the original patina can be
retained. If this is achievable, then the article is restored by
removing any damage and refinishing to match the original.
Alternatively, all of the finish may have to be removed, repairs carried
out and then the item would require completely refinishing.
It is possible to restore any furniture, whether a valuable antique or
an item of sentimental value. The art of furniture restoration is to
undertake any repair and refinishing without any evidence of this taking
place - ending with a piece of furniture that appears to have been
lovingly cared for over a period of many years.
If you have an item of furniture that requires restoration, please contact
us. If possible, a photograph along with details of the damage
or work required would greatly assist us.
All work is fully guaranteed and carried out to the highest of
standards.
